Gill Faris has a background in psychosocial oncology and life-skills training in the private and public health sectors. She joined the Knowledge Translation Unit in December 2005 as a nurse trainer. Gill Faris has trained, mentored and supported over 500 PALSA PLUS nurse trainers, who in turn have trained over 9500 nurses across all 9 provinces. She has adapted and refined the programme to train master trainers throughout South Africa to support its national implementation. Her research interests are primarily in the application of adult education techniques in the health sector, and she is presently completing a masters degree.
